🕑 Added 2024-01-01 18:22:43 +0000 UTCThe Amish (/ˈɑːmɪʃ/; Pennsylvania German: Amisch; German: Amische), formally the Old Order Amish, are a group of traditionalist Anabaptist Christian church fellowships with Swiss German and Alsatian origins.[2] They are closely related to Mennonite churches, a separate Anabaptist denomination.[3] The Amish are known for simple living, plain dress, Christian pacifism, and slowness to adopt many conveniences of modern technology, with a view neither to interrupt family time, nor replace face-to-face conversations whenever possible, and a view to maintain self-sufficiency. The Amish value rural life, manual labor, humility and Gelassenheit (submission to God's will).

I'm halfway through a two week trip to Japan and just washed my socks and underwear in the hotel bathtub while listening to this episode. A- enjoyable way to do a not enjoyable chore, B- thick irony.

We got our retropug from an agency that represents Mennonite breeders. They were recommended by the creator of the retropug as she couldn't export. Our dog is a healthy happy sweetie and certainly seemed to be well cared for as did her mum but now I can't help but imagine the worst
