Fasting……It seems to have made a comeback in present culture in the way of Intermittent Fasting. The health benefits have been noted. The body needs time to rest from constant food input. The body repairs in the time that fuel is NOT entering the body!
I believe our souls (mind, will, emotions) and spirits need this as well. I had decided a little while back that I was going to fast from various things….not necessarily bad things but just things that are constant input. To rest from the “more” entering my mind and spirit. It has felt very interesting in different ways. I realize how many mindless activities fill my time….and how when those things aren’t filling my time, how much time I have to pray, meditate and hear from God.
It’s nearing the end of the year and many times people are thinking about the upcoming year and what they want to see happen in their lives. I would encourage you to step away even if it’s just mind-numbing activities that fill the edges of your day. Give some space to consider and let God infiltrate you with His wisdom and discernment. It is the place where you can breathe deeply of His grace and love and peace!

Thanks Sis for speaking truth and life into us. Fasting is so important in our lives. Sacrifice and denying ourselves while focusing on our relationship with God gives us huge gains. I plan to do more of it in the new year.
