Also, perhaps Maud can carry the items for you, help dig at the X, and dig at the crack in the wall later. However, even though you can't carry items, perhaps you could still use one before taking a rest yourself. Drink one of the 2 Energy Drinks to regain some of your energy.

Take a nap with Maud so when she wakes up you can ask her to help search the area.
