Lots of people recommend starting with a lathe when entering machining as a hobby. Do you concur? What are your thoughts on lathe size and must-have features for a beginner?
Zane Alami
What has been your favorite project you haven't shown before? What project has taught you the most?
Charles Way
What is your design process like? Idea, Rough sketch, then final drawing. Or is it more involved.
Allen Guindon
What would be at the top of your list for projects you wish you and your grandpa could have worked on and completed?
Michael Faragher
Did project presentations help you hit the ground running on video presentations on YouTube?
Dennis Shubitowski
I am interested in your training. Did you take drafting classes? I love the idea of learning drafting and how to properly prepare and label. I would not be interested in learning Fusion or other programs for simple projects to do in the shop.
Jose Rodriguez
My favorite machining channel! I have always been puzzled about how good the videos were from the first one on, no painful growing/learning curve. You seemed to have already decided on the style/format of the videos from the beginning. How do you decided to become a YouTuber and what was your planning process before you started?
Jeffrey Spoor
I’m interested in your backstory as a whole. Do you have a ‘Day job’ anymore? How do you balance your time? I love your videos and content and your narration is fantastic. I’ve learned so much. Thanks again!
Steven Bierlink
I'm a very low skilled hobby machinist, but I can generally still follow along and really enjoy watching you/clickspring/tony etc. Maybe a series of short videos for actual novices like myself - how-to on measurements/dro operation/feeds and speeds would really be fantastic. Could even be on a separate channel.
Sebastian Wridt
I have a question: When are you going to expand your workshop? If yes, how would you like it to be? It’s because I studie to “Maskinmester”, (The term is in danish). And we are taught that machine for safety, productivity and comfortable working position need to be a certain distance to eachother
Matthew Vaerewyck
I'd love to hear more about your grandfather and the projects you did together. You have an amazing depth and breadth of knowledge regarding all the tooling and set ups - how much of that was working with him? How much was learning in engineering school or googling "how do I do X"? How did your grandfather introduce you to machining? Did you take an interest because he was always out there or did he bring you along? Where is your shop (not geographically)? Is it a home garage, an out building on your property, or separate location?
Chris Wampler
Do you have projects that you did with your grandfather that you would be willing to show? Is there anything that he made or that you made together that you'd want to do again? Are there any metal working projects that didn't get finished by your grandfather that you plan to pick up again and finish off? Can we see your big white board with all of the projects that you're thinking about and planning for the future? Do you have some simple, around the house type projects, that you could show that were not so significant that you would make a video about but that you could only do because you had access to your grandfather's tools and machines?
Mike Falter
What’s a dream project for you? How many side projects do you think it would take to complete? 😂 jk, love the channel. I hope you just keep building stuff. I think you should think about making a clock yourself, out of metal instead of dead tree carcass.
Jim Hinze
This is going to sound wrong, its not intended as a negative...When are you going to sort leveling/tailstock alignment on the lathe? It has been educational for me seeing you work around it and adjust as needed, but getting to the root of it seems a good idea 😀

Look, we all like a good chamfer on a part, but I'm gonna be honest, I think I enjoy a nice fillet just a little more in the majority of cases. What do you think about the chamfer vs fillet debate? Do you prefer how cathartic lathe work can be or do you like the intricacies of mill work?
Jack Fountain
Any thoughts to designing/building a floating reamer holder? I have one used for barrel chamber reaming but limited in size of reamers without machined adapters.
Josh Goldshlag
How long (real time) does it take to make most of the stuff in your videos? Is it over a couple of days?
Will Lindberg
I myself run an automation and machining company, and I routinely find myself drawn to manual machines (knee mill, lathe, surface grinder etc) for small to medium "fun or personal" jobs. I'm curious if you have ran CNC machines, and if so, are you also drawn to manual machining? Personally, I would rather spend all day on a part that in the end may have been overly challenging on a manual machine, than just toss some code into the Fadal and have a part 30 minutes later. It's the personal relationship with my equipment that I'm forever chasing.

When will the bolt action pencil be available for sale :D
Erik D. Radzius
Yes! I was wondering when this would happen haha 1)been asked previously already, but I might as well add to it - do you have any plans to get more machines for the workshop? If so - what's on your "dream shopping list"? 2)have you ever had any serious injuries in the workshop(not counting bruised knuckles or small cuts) and if so, what were they?(don't need gory detail 😁) 3)thoughts on 3D printing in the workshop?(I mainly ask because I'm very positively biased towards printers myself) 4)what do you do for fun, given that machining seems to be a hobby-turned(pun in tended)-job for you? I'm sure I have plenty more, but at this rate you'd end up with a 3 hour long video 😂
Michael Faragher
My response is to get to know scrap vendors and amateur communities around you. I got a 12 foot section of 1 inch "I don't know" steel round for the cost of buying a scrap dealer's kid some ice cream, and did a bulk purchase of steel for 25% market value due to volume. (I did spend a lot of time and money on the transaction, but I ended up paying for 100 pounds and getting around five hundred for myself)

What branch (ME, EE, Civil, Biomed) of engineering were you trained in and, if you're comfortable, what general field are you in professionally? Do you think doing statics, dynamics, and differential equations by hand are worthwhile to the modern engineering student? What is the silliest "I'm stuck here with nothing to do, I'll do some engineering!" story that you have? (I was alone in the dining hall during exams and computed the distance to the moon using gravity, centripetal acceleration, the radius of the Earth, and the lunar month. All offhand but the radius of the Earth. Easily the same digits of precision out as in.) Do you think all lock-out tag-out tags should have photos and names of the person working the equipment? Ever since I saw that tag, I sure think so. What are you usually listening to while you work? Do you have any tool or consumable you're really particular about? (when I was in school there was this great computational pad paper, the kind with 5 squares per inch and semi-translucent? That brand went out of production and I haven't found anything as quality or durable since. Not that I've looked in ten years) Does Solidworks ever talk about me? I miss it, and wish it'd call.
Shao Zhang
How much formal drafting education did you receive? I was born in 82 and received 4yrs drafting in middle and high school but that was pretty much the last years it was offered. Now I’m in a totally unrelated career but I still value it.
Dennis Otterstetter
What is your background? Education, work, etc. You are clearly ahead of the curve of most on YouTube.
Locane
(Being a tech guy that writes tools to make better tools, dreaming up more convenient tooling to do my job faster and the ouroboros that thinking is is on my mind a lot lmao)
Locane
Did you inherit and work 1000+ hours in a new machine shop only to produce one not-for-the-machine-shop-itself repaired clock that was actually made of wood anyway? 🤣🤣
Isaac Stemple
Do you watch other machinists on YouTube? How do you like get your inspiration and further your knowledge?
procrastinatore
What are additions to the shop you are planning? (Machines/Processes)
procrastinatore
For those that plan to start on YT themselves, how did you get into the whole editing side of the "backstage" area
Bob Johnson
You inherited quite a lot of material in your stash. Do you have suggestions for those of us that are starting from little to nothing: How to build up a stash of materials?
Vincent
What do you enjoy most about machining? What do you find the most challenging?
Joseph Garcia
Tap sets. Where do you buy QUALITY tap sets that don't break the bank?
Vincent
What is your process for making these videos? I'm sure a lot of us would gain a better appreciation for them if we saw the amount of work that goes behind the scenes. Do you plan things out like certain shots with certain operations, or just wing it? Do you record a ton of footage and sift through afterwards? What's the editing process like?
Vincent
What is your experience with the engineer-machinist relationship? How do you bridge the gap between theory and practice?
Michael P Andersen
What are your top "I wish I had known that earlier" tips? (E.g. a minor one for me was that I didn't think about cutting a cylinder to make setting tool height easier until I saw your recent video. Saves a lot of time trying to eyeball against the tailstock).
Andrei Shylo
What did your grandfather do for a living?
Michael P Andersen
Are there any projects you've shown us that, if you did them again, you would do differently?
Andrei Shylo
What machines are you looking to add to your shop?
Louis Noel
I’m moving my 500sqft shop 4 hrs away into a garage. The shop has a welding table, minilathe, 40” box and pan brake, shelves, tables, power tools, etc. Since you have experience moving a shop of heavy equipment, what advice could you give for ensuring a smooth move?
Ethan Vance
What industry do you work in? (Manufacturing, OEM, etc.)
