I'm pretty sure he's taken a sudden interest in saving the civilians, now that he's caused the hive to start collapsing and flooding. Because Crown Prince Regis refuses to ever come down off his moral high horse, and admit that maybe he isn't the hero he thought he is. And maybe, just maybe; he's doomed a large number of innocent bystanders because of his quest for 'justice.' I really want to reach though this monitor and punch that sanctimonious bastard upside the head.
