I have a very busy schedule at my main job during the summer - tourist season gets insanely hectic and I normally block out those months as non-writing months due to mental strain and exhaustion.
But right now I'm fully dedicated to finishing at least book 1 of Re: System before the year is out, and I have no desire to spend months stalled. Therefore, I'm making the difficult decision to try and continue writing straight through.
I do know for a fact that I absolutely will not be able to maintain a five per week regular schedule over the summer; that is indisputable. In over ten years, I have a 100% success rate on completing november and april nanowrimo challenges; in the same time period, I've never once finished a july or august one, despite trying many times. My summer is simply exhausting, mentally and physically. I was hoping to have book 1 finished by now so I could take a proper break, but... well, we're not even close.
Therefore... throughout the summer I'm going to aim for a minimum of two chapters a week. If I can sometimes get more than that, good. If I end up with less sometimes, that's just how it goes. This will be a chaotic few months, and I know from experience that trying to hold myself to unrealistic deadlines will only lead to burnout.
I've really resisted making this announcement, because I hate to lose momentum, but the tighter the rest of my life gets the less leeway I have for making up missteps or adjusting a chapter that doesn't go perfectly the first time. I simply won't have the time or brainpower.
The only other option is to pause completely, and I'd like to avoid that if at all possible.
Things start to slow down around September, I'll plan to move my schedule back up toward the current posting rate at that time.
[TL;DR: Moving down to 2ch/wk for the next three months because of work.]

I've just gone ahead and set up a summer-only tier, with a clear warning that it's chapters 151+ only. :) Thanks for the suggestion!

Oh that’s a good point I hadn’t considered… you might could think of it as a way to onboard ppl at a lower cost to try and keep them with a price hike in a couple months… but I’m sure it would feel pretty bad to be giving away all that labor for a reduced cost
I have thought about it, but I'm not sure how to balance it with new patrons. If people come to join and get only chapters 151+, that's weird and they'd be confused, but I also have a very large backlog which I don't want to give away to the lower tiers. Honestly, it might be better if I just paused things completely... T-T

Have you thought abt lowering your tier cost with your lowered output? Like others have said I don’t think I can justify 9 dollars for 8 chapters, but if you went from somewhere in the 2-5 dollar range I probably could stick around for the slow summer. Either way I hope you are able to avoid burnout and are able to survive your hectic summer.

Am I first again? Haha! It seems that I am, against all odds! Thanks for the update! And indeed, do be careful not to burn out. I'd rather wait a while than to have the story never finish.
