The Music album has some bangers, but sonically it’s mixed in its cohesion. It continues to be a mix of experimental music but mainstream enough to produce a bunch of “HITS”. I consider it a transition album as you hear the outgoing sounds of William Orbit but are introduced to Mirwais who takes over the following album American Life.

I’m glad you enjoyed the “American Pie” video. I think it’s underrated and celebrates the diversity of the U.S…. Something certain forces are trying to destroy. The original version by Don McLean is a classic. A lot of his fans hated this cover, but McLean himself loved it. “Beautiful Stranger” was one of the most played songs worldwide when it came out. The video won the VMA for Best Video from a movie and the Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media, beating Oscar nominees and the Oscar winner that year. It was also nominated for a Golden Globe as well. It was snubbed at the Oscars but that was a pretty competitive year.

Like others have said already, Has to Be is more of a meditative song just to relax & chill. It actually starts with, BREATHE IN, BREATHE OUT. Totally agree with you about Time Stood Still, it's absolutely beautiful. I was VERY surprised that you actually didn't know American Pie was a remake of a MAJOR American music CLASSIC. I think the video is cute but I totally LOVE the Dance Remix of the song! Which is the same thing I wanted to say about Beautiful Stranger, a fun video BUT the Victor Calderone dance remix of it, totally kicks ass! Lastly... one song that should of been a part of this set is William Orbit's LIQUID LOVE. It never made it to the Ray of Light album but it should of, it's hypnotic & really quite good. :-D

Movie tracks… just ok. Beautiful Stranger grew on me once I saw the fun video with Austin Powers. 🤷 I’ve never liked American Pie, no matter who is singing, but it fits the movie. Yet the movie was terrible.

Has to be isn't really a song for every occasion, but I tell you what, if you're doing yoga, or taking a bath with candles and just want to relax, it's gorgeous.

Great reaction! These songs are all pretty good beautiful stranger is a grower. And at first when American pie first came out, I loved it because she took out on such a huge song for a cover, but I still like the original American pie better. You should check out the original version I think you’d actually love it since you liked this one. And back when this came out the jeans that showed your crack were the only jeans on the rack and I think she was actually making a joke about it at the end of the video because we all knew we couldn’t sit down in those🤣 My mom hated the style, but it was that or jnco elephant pants, which were not much of a higher waist

I'm just as curious as he wasn't kind to the song Music when he first reacted to her #1s and that song was everywhere , charted in 2 different years...I still hear it in clubs and it fills the dance floor.

Nice reaction! I think these songs are fine, but a little forgettable. I think she hated “American Pie” because her label made her do it, but I’m not sure. I’m curious to know what your reaction to Music will be. I’m afraid your expectations after Ray of Light will be a little too high lol It still has some elements of that, in terms of the production, but not so much the lyrics (with a few exceptions). But it’s still an interesting and experimental album, for sure.

"Has To Be" is a very calming soothing reflective meditative song. A track to chill out after a long stressful day. Ironically, besides a Japan album Bonus track also a B-side to the energetic free-spirited dancefloor anthem "Ray of Light" single

:-). American Pie is a remake of Don McLean 1971 song. The clips in the video were for the video not the movie :-). Don McLean blessed her version Also was very controversial for showing lesbians kissing The man she’s hugging is Rupert Everest her costar in The Next Best Thing

You didn't like Has To Be for the same reason you didn't like This Used To Be My Playground: there's no beat. You obviously prefer songs, even ballads, with a beat.
