Canon launched a new point-and-shoot (in Asia, first) to compete with Sony's ZV lineup, Marques claims that the Sigma BF is the camera Apple would make if it made a camera (I have so many thoughts because Apple does make a camera and it looks like this...), and since seeing this new home robot, I have not stopped wanting to watch Bicentennial Man.

What I read this week:
Many iPhone 16e reviews. John Gruber asked Apple why Magsafe was missing and reported, "According to Apple representatives, most people in the 16e’s target audience exclusively charge their phones by plugging them into a charging cable". The funny thing for me is that the magnets on my iPhone 16 Pro are used far more for sticking my phone places, like on a tripod or my car's dash, than charging. Allison Johnson pointed out, "On Android, you can buy a $500 phone with a fast refresh-rate screen, two rear cameras, seven years of software support, and wireless charging. On iOS, you can buy this $599 phone with one rear camera, a standard 60Hz screen, wireless charging (but no MagSafe), and an ample but unstated amount of software support". And John Velasco included a good number of photo samples compared to other popular phones.

I’ve already heard from two people who’ve had to stop relatives just as they were about to buy a new iPhone 6e, so they could divert them onto a second hand iPhone 15 Pro for about the same price. There’s arguments to be made for most of the compromises of the 16e but the lack of MagSafe is so weird.
