Isn't killing coil just before Taylor was going to bind him a little close to betraying her trust? I mean, apparently they talked about this plan, and Lisa decided to get her revenge anyway. Of course, maybe something else is happening, but I just wanted to make sure you remembered that plot point.

Caractacus

It's going to be a big part of the rest of this arc.

Okay, I have to admit this had me cackling at Coil's misfortune with much glee. It also made me wince at what Taylor will do if pushed too far. Of course anyone can be pushed too far depending on circumstances, I suppose.

I like this chapter. Inevitable shit-show from the idiots on SV or not, it showcases just how fully Taylor understands what it actually means to be a "hero", not just the whitewashed, kiddy-fied versions of the tales. Not only that, but also just how fully she's willing and prepared to step up to that exact same plate as those self-same ancient heroes. Kudos, to Taylor and to you, James.

What I really wanted to drive home in this interlude was something that I was hinting at very early on in the story. Very early on. In fact, this revelation has been planned since the earliest stages of the story. It's not time to reveal what that is, yet, but I needed to remind everyone that it was there. Poor Coil just happened to be the most plausible catalyst for bringing it forward.

I almost feel bad for Coil. Poor little snake, so used to how modern heroes handle things.

I sent a PM to Higure on SV, asked him to take a look. I'll give him a couple of days to get back to me, and if I need to, PM another mod to give it a look-see. It's funny you mention that this is a more "Skitter" reaction, though. Funny and kind of ironic, for reasons I won't be explaining, yet.

It's not about it being gruesome (you avoided giving details that would make it too much). I tried not to be too spoilery for patrons who checked the comments before the chapter. However what Taylor does as well as her reasoning and Coil's reactions are going to trigger some people, and worse it will probably cause pages upon pages of discussion about it. And if she did too much. And if you described it too much. Or if you described it too little etc. I was just giving an advice to help you avoid it. Or at the very least mitigate the mess. Odds are the mods will be fine with it. But if you can say in your authors note 'BTW this has gone through mod approval but I would appreciate if things remained civil anyway' odds are it would help Plus odds are a mod might be more wiling to show up and ask people to drop it if you had given a heads up. From what I have gathered if mods show up days later after everything is on fire the possibilities for a harsher intervention would be much higher. And if they think you should have done something earlier and you didn't they might blame you. On the other hand you could not involve the mods at all and hope your reader remain civil. And, since this is a more Skitter reaction from Apocrypha, maybe they would.

Caractacus

Really? I didn't think it was THAT gruesome.

GreekGuy

Well.. that was disturbing and awesome at the same time! One of the better ways I have seen to deal with Coils timeline shenanigans. Just FYI before you post this on SV you should probably ask a mod to take a look and give you the OK. I am pretty sure it is fine, but Taylor's action in the second fork and her reasoning might raise some flaggs. Edit: Also if you get the OK from the mods you can add said ok to your AN and avoid the reactions that are bound to happen
