[Hereafter] Chapter CXXXV: Itsy Bitsy Spider
🕑 Added 2024-01-29 02:45:59 +0000 UTCI didn't get to work in the chapter title as much as I originally intended, but I think this came out pretty good either way. There was one part I wasn't entirely sure on, but the editor really liked it, so I kept it in as it was. I'm sure you'll figure out what I'm talking about as you go.
Last chapter, I was kind of uncertain about the direction I was taking things in. For all that I'm going with it still, it still feels awkward that the team walks straight into that trap knowing it's a trap, but I couldn't find anything technically wrong about the string of decisions that led to it and I still can't. I think I managed to stick the landing, though. Next chapter might wind up the make-or-break part of this subplot, so we'll see how it goes.

I never liked playing a game without knowing the rules, so I feel the frustration of Taylor and the twins. Alice has made Taylor angry, which is generally not conducive to a long life expectancy. Though Taylor might just take it out on 'Papa.' Interesting that Fou saved Taylor, given the hostility between them. Hopefully we'll see Jackie again, in less antagonistic circumstances.

EMIYA still being Shirou on some level, I'd think he'd go for the Fusion Blade, instead. A genuine BFS made up of multiple swords!

And I mean...last I checked the Jabberwocky is fictional. I don't see Emiya swinging around Cloud's Buster Sword either.

Because he doesn't necessarily have it. The first time the Vorpal Sword is mentioned is in Extra, where Emiya is technically a playable character, and it's a specialized weapon meant for fighting very specific types of enemies that has to be crafted by an alchemist from malachite. Emiya has gotten around, but the kind of enemies you would need such a specialized weapon for are exceptionally rare. Rare enough that I don't think he's encountered them before.
