Wishing you a smooth crossing!! If you're looking for some fun activities to do with Sierra check out this site: https://dayswithgrey.com/. My almost 3yo and 4.5yo love these activities and they can be adjusted to use things that you might have laying around. Have fun :)

Chris SD

It looks like they have the RV model installed and not the flat maritime dish. I think only the maritime system is guaranteed to work in the South Pacific. With the recent price drop we decided to upgrade to it.

I’m posting this to just see if anyone has maybe had any contact with these people. I know Delos was down in Mexico….!!!URGENT!!! The sailing vessel Ocean Bound IS NOT the boat rescued on 4/16/2023 by the Tuna fisherman. That was the sailing vessel Befana, a Catalina 30. S/V Ocean Bound is still missing! The families of Kerry and Frank O’Brien and William (Bill) Gross in addition to the sailing community are pleading to the people of Southern California and in the region of Baja. And as far reaching as we can go into South America. Kerry, Frank and Bill are missing aboard the O’Briens vessel Ocean Bound. Kerry, Frank and Bill are all experienced sailors, Bill has over 50 years of sailing experience and is an extremely talented coastal cruiser. Kerry and Frank have 20 years sailing together and both hold Captains licenses with the US Coast Guard. Ocean Bound is a sturdy older vessel and by many accounts is one of the best sailboats ever constructed. It can be argued that by todays standards it is lacking technology. There is also an argument for these sailors who’ve been reading star charts and coastal navigation for most of their lives. Technology can fail simply due to one wire or a power outage. Their collective knowledge and experience will not fail. SV Ocean Bound departed Mazatlan Mexico on Tuesday 4/4/2023 at approximately 9:30am with a Westward heading across the Sea of Cortez, a short stop had been planned in Cabo San Lucas and then to sail up the coast of Baja to San Diego, California. When the 3 did not check in by the weekend the report was made to the US Coast Guard. Cell phone pings on 4/4/2023 show off the coast of Mazatlan as calls to marinas in Cabo San Lucas. All calls were short and it’s presumed they were trying to make slip/ball reservations. Based on the short calls they were unsuccessful. This is the last known contact of Kerry, Frank and Bill. The vessel, Kerry, Frank and Bill are currently missing/overdue. There has been no radio contact to or from Ocean Bound and her crew. The Mexican Navy (CMAR/SEMAR) is working with the United States Coast Guard (USCG) in search and rescue operations. In roughly 48 hours the USCG will turn physical efforts (ships/aircraft) over to CMAR/SEMAR and will be an investigation entity and send ships or planes as requested by CMAR/SEMAR. The sailing community has hundreds of additional vessels looking for our family members. Sadly they have not seen or made contact with them either. The USCG has a current “travel projection” if Ocean Bound simply lost radio contact and continued her journey to San Diego at just North or South of Turtle Bay (Bahia Tortuga) on the Baja Peninsula and is focused on searching there, in addition to long aircraft sweeps along the Baja Peninsula. The “drift projection”, if Ocean Bound became disabled, is focused by CMAR/SEMAR in a 100 mile area South to Southeast of Cabo San Lucas. This is around the waters near Puerto Vallarta. These parameters are reassessed each night to redefine the search the next day. We cannot express enough gratitude to the USCG, CMAR/SEMAR and the sailing community for their help the past 4 days and their continued S&R efforts going forward. They have communicated all of their efforts with kindness and compassion more than once a day. We truly appreciate everything you’ve done and continue to do. Thank you, you bring us hope and comfort in this painful time. The social media posting efforts of our families is to reach as many people as possible across the globe. If anyone has seen, heard of Ocean Bound and her crew. Knows someone in the areas around the search perimeters. Please help us bring Kerry, Frank and Bill home.

Hello

Andy Klevorn

Good luck on the crossing. Very envious. You just going for a second lap so Kazza can be a globe trotter too? I just saw your Predict Wind post. You're leaving on my wife and I's 24 year anniversary, surely good things are headed your way. I think 20 days and 16 hours.

Pam and Bob Neufeld

Be careful out there! s/v Ocean Bound has been missing in the Sea of Cortez for almost 2 weeks. One of the crew, Bill Gross is pictured in the press wearing a Delos rash guard. He might be a subscriber or patron. They were on their way from Mazatlan to Cabo. Some fear kidnapping. https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/15/us/mexico-missing-us-sailors/index.html

Can’t wait to see Delos out sailing again❤️⛵️

HappyRock616

Download Ted Lasso and watch that series. Call Bill H, he may have a copy 😉

Elsie Smith

The old system doesn't work in the South Pacific - no coverage.

Veronique & Jim Tetlow

Safe passage! Not sure how long you plan on staying in French Polynesia but we're planning on spending a couple of weeks there end of July/early August. Would be awesome to catch you there if at all possible 😊

Benjamin Durr

If you can find a "The Bottom Line" board game, it will replace all of the others. I played a dice game called "Farkle" on my last Cape Town to Honolulu delivery. Any Tom Clancy audible is good for a 3a-6a watch.

Scott C. Wise

I am wondering if everything is fixed on Delos? It seems that after you splashed some new/repeat problems revealed themselves. Hmmmmm

Jenessa Johns

How are y’all’s gonna do a proper equator crossing without Bradys pubes?!?!? 🤣🤣

Claude Robert Bryant

Hey guys! I think you will be pleased with the Sarlink. We have ours since the start up and it is wonderful. Happy transit.

Dave Cummings

Will you have a buddy boat? I guess Calico Skies will still be dealing with their boat projects. Will they follow when they’re ready?

Chris SD

The maritime version dropped from $5k/month to $1k/month. Pretty sweet deal for Internet anywhere in the world now.

Scott Leak

Have a good crossing! It's amazing how much smaller the new starlink antenna is than the giant dome. More power!

Peter Kane

3000 miles divided by 6 kpm divided by 24 hours = 20.8 days! Yahoo!

david marentette

Safe passage .

david marentette

Looks like you have Delos ready to go.

Rick Mann

Keg stand for Hannah!

Chris SD

Have a great trip, Delos. My daughter and I swung by to say hey a couple of days ago to thank you for the vlogs that helped get things sorted on our boat. We thought we’d return the favor by supporting your Patreon. No book recommendations for your crossing, but here are our top 3 boat hacks if it helps: 1) Wifi endoscope to see where you can’t put your eyes - https://depstech.com/collections/wifi-endoscopes 2) The R2D2 of cooking that’s almost a private chef. Basically buy the ingredients and it puts it all together for you from hundreds of recipes inside the unit. Let’s you cook interesting dishes you might not normally have time or patience for. https://www.vorwerk.co.uk/en/c/home/products/thermomix/thermomix-tm6.html 3) Reduces garbage runs at anchor by two thirds https://josephjoseph.com.au/products/titan-20l-trash-compactor-stainless-steel Ok one more… 4) Chef created perfect temperatures and cook times for no matter what you put in a frying pan https://hestancue.com

Thanks for the update Brian and Kazza. What prompted the satellite change? Did you keep the old system? Any concern for protecting the new dish? Just curious. Thanks.

Anne West

hey at what point will Kazza reach her circumnavigation? Does she have to go back to a starting point or only cross the same longitude?

Anne West

congrats on the tranny install. I thin Hannah should have to catch some fish and prepared a suitable meal from them.

Anne West

lol

Brian&Christina

Howabout a Shellback Certificate. And of course a Shellback Tour 2023 Special Edition hooded Sun Shirt. And lastly a nickname she will be referred by henceforth.

Kim McN. RebelliousRaven

Three audiobooks 1) "Will" written/narrated by Will Smith before the infamous slap...surprisingly good 2) The Soul of the Octopus by Sy Montgomery about a woman's relationship with an Octopus 3) The Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah (historical fiction) Have a safe trip!

Patricia

🍀🍀🍀 🤙🏻

Erik Adler

I heard new shellbacks must make new cockpit cushions... during a drinking contest with Neptune.

Shelly Ackerman

“20 days at sea with a two year old - yay” :-)’ Have a wonderful trip! Smooth sailing! Sending you guys much love! 💕

Klas Andersson

A suitable passage ritual for doing the proverbial equator crossing would be to prepare a batch of mash a few days before the crossing, and on the crossing make her run the still and challenge Neptune to a drinking contest! 😁

Marisa Conner

So exited for you guys! Highly recommend the book and audiobook: Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt, featuring a special octopus.

Robert Poole Sr

Awesome that you are traveling West to Hawaii!! Make sure you dive or snorkel the crater off the coast of Maui...Enjoy and safe travels... Robert

Mac Costas

Soooo Excited for you all. If your not listening to Dan Carlin-Hard Core history yet he can occupy most most of trip with his podcasts, I use him on cross county road trips, can listen all night and not get tired

Lowell McCormick

No pubic hair.

Sailing SV Freedom

I’m thinking the same ceremony you did last time might be out, so maybe a more “traditional” (family friendly) version this time? If you like, we can research for you!👍🏻😎💪

Paul

Haha… I knew it.. I’m like.. this has to be a patreon video… 😂😂😂
