Early & Ad Free: Why Weβre Building A Catamaran (THE EXPERIMENT)....Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 469
🕑 Added 2024-07-26 14:18:44 +0000 UTCHey hey Delos Tribe! This is our LAST episode in French Polynesia for a while, and it's a pretty fun/sentimental/crazy one if I do say so myself. After 15 years on a monohull, we're finally making the switch to a catamaran....but funnily enough we've actually spent an incredibly small amount of time on catamarans. We've done little sails here and there, we've certainly partied on them a time or two (*coughs* ahemmm, PARLAY π) but we've never properly lived on one and gotten a feel for what day to day life is really like. So we figured it was time to change that, and what better chance to do it then to hang out with our friends Warren & Erica on their boat Va...and what better place than Bora Bora!!! And while we are on the topic of Warren & Erica, we are SO grateful to them for hosting us, and in this episode as we finally hop on a plane for Australia, we share a very heartfelt goodbye. These two are just top tier humans, and our time together exploring French Polynesia together will always be some of our fondest memories of our entire trip around the world. We hope you enjoy this video!
Lots of love, big hugs, and gratitude from all of us,
Brian, Kazza, & Sierra

Catching up on videos and really enjoyed this one. Totally agree with your comparison between Mono and cat and the 'Feeling' of sailing. Hope you don't miss it too much! Cheers!

Iβm wondering whether you can install motorized sail handling gear on 2.0. Iβm sure the jib furler can be motorized, but Iβve never seen a cat with a furling main, either in mast or in boom. In boom furling would be great!

It's Monday now and I feel fine! I even had a dental cleaning today. I thought it was meant to see how I was healing after the extraction. But I was surprised to get a nice cleaning. How do you guys manage dental stuff?

Thanks so much Gary, so happy to bring you some smiles every Friday!

Haha we LOVED that part too π Yes we were definitely relieved that we enjoyed cat life, because yes at this point the hull was already well underway!
Sailing SV Delos
Oh yes it was definitely a tease-worthy moment!

It's at the top of our list for design considerations, Sierra will accept no less than the BOUNCIEST!
Sailing SV Delos
Oh yes the trampoline is priority number 1 for us now that Sierra's gotten the taste of the bouncy life π

Thanks so much Nate, really glad you're enjoying the content as we make this transition. We are now editing the first boat build episodes and it's been super fun to put together, so excited to start sharing it with you all!

Oooo hammock in the room is a fantastic idea, Sierra would love that!

Awww thanks Papa D!

So proud of all my boys β¦ but Brian β¦ you tilt the world

I'm imagining all of this on Delos 2.0, but now put an extra strong tramp in. Best decision I ever did with my kiddo was to put a hammock in her room so she could swing her heart out. Also kudos Brian for proudly rocking the nail polish.
Nate
Amazed at how well youβre balancing the real time build content with this timeline. Was originally feeling the lack of family life in the realtime updates, but I see now you were absolutely correctβ¦itβs keeping the y/t timeline fresh even knowing the build is well ahead. Well done!

After this, I'm sure a trampoline on Delos 2.0 will be up for serious consideration. Sierra requesting shade... the girl is growing up! As for missing that "lean" I'm sure you'll have plenty of chances to join friends on their mono-hulls. For sure, you guys would be the most appreciative guests on the planet! The dramatic ending... teasing us with the garage door... the perfect closure to this part of the saga!

Note to self: Make sure the trampoline on the new boat is bouncy

I'm watching LATE! It's not even SV Delos Friday any more. Around noon time I had a molar extracted and I'm feeling kind of poor. But not so bad that I'm laying on the floor. Loved this episode! It's an interesting contrast between a cat and a mono hull.

What a great vibe this video has. What a beautiful story living the life we all want to live. This was a really good one.
Patricia
Great ending! Glad to be a patron and getting a peek behind the curtain early π

Sierra: "I'm not a babe!" Priceless .. sweet .. beautiful. She doesn't want to be a baby ..... but some day she WILL be a Babe ..... just like Mom and Mormor! It is a good thing ... that you don't mind sailing a Cat ..... since you are way deep into your own! No going back. Keep 'em flyin

Really good video, the high lite of Fridays.
