These are a UK 7/ EU 40, which is a size 9US. These shouldn't fit, but they do, just. They aren't comfortable, but not for the reasoon you're thinking. They're uncomfortable because the heel pitch. It feels more extreme than my So Kates. They have a 4.5" block heel, and a single strap over the instep. If they were a size 8 (10 US) they'd fit better. My barbiecore entrant.
