Like I said before, when I get stuff from eBay etc., it could be eons before it gets into a finished video, since I prefer my public stuff to be tightly edited and error-free - with this limited audience however I can leave the leaves and twigs in and feel okay about it. I have tremendous respect for Techmoan. He's basically why I wanted to start making videos. He just stays married to his core goal and doesn't go off on tangents literally or metaphorically.

The issue I have with that is quality. I am an extreme stickler for my public facing material being as perfect as possible, for a mix of reasons, some personal hangups, some opinions about public performance. I realize that there are plenty of channels that get lots of viewers without worrying nearly as much as I do about polish, but I don't understand how that works for them and the only conclusion I can reach is that they just make fewer mistakes than me. When I look at my first takes, they're full of massive factual errors, and when I post anything that I'm not absolutely positive about, there's always problems that I continue to hear about for years, and I can't stand that. I think Adrian is either smarter than me or less stressed, I don't know which. Maybe someday I will be able to relax but for now this is the only way I can release a video that hasn't had a week of agonizing work put into it.

Oh, and I highly recommend you at least temporarily get a $10 Patreon with Techmoan. He has over 1M subscribers, does zero sponsored videos and products, does a lot of niche reviews, basically an old guy rambling about stuff, and looking at how he structures the tiers and what videos are available to whom and at what point in time would probably be interesting for you. I mean you can always cancel before it even gets billed. One of the most important things with his Patreons was that he would nearly always answer to their comments, while he seldomly would interact with non-paying viewers, due to the sheer amount of comments he gets on the videos.

I would reserve "Patreon-only" for behind-the-scenes and Q&A videos. I think right now you are interested in getting views and subscribers for the YouTube channel, and none of the Patreon-only videos will ever receive more than a few hundred views at most. For a number of channels, like Adrians Digital Basement for example, Mail Call videos are the most popular videos of the channel overall.
