Patron video: Shill emails!!

If you've ever wondered how quickly new youtubers start getting deluged with offers to shill crappy products, wonder no longer - pretty much the moment you break 6000 subscribers or so, it goes nuts. So here's a tour of the Influencer Inbox Experience. This was kinda fun!
I made this at the request of the patrons on my Discord, and hey, you know, if there's anything you want me to do like this, I'm open to suggestions! It'll be this level of quality or thereabouts, but if you want me to Web Browse while talking about something, I would love to do more patron-only videos. I can just never think of what to make!
PS: I've already been informed I misread "mille" as "mile". I guess it's Latin.

I did some transcription work for Rev a while back and it's exactly like you describe, gig piecework done by far too undercompensated "independent" non-employees. I never did captioning but their caption style guide has a 60 character maximum per line, which explains why you got very short lines. The service is generally good for what you get within the limitations, but beyond it being built on gig hell, it's also building a massive speech-to-text model to eliminate the human aspect as much as possible.

If you can have fun making content out of it, I think it would be worth accepting a review agreement assuming you have absolute freedom. Then just name the video something that people who don't like that sort of thing can avoid, like "A $400 Smartphone with a knockoff FLIR camera? - SponsorPosting". That way you save curious buyers for falling for a promising, but likely crappy device and rant about it. P.S: I think I may have just invented this term "SponsorPosting": it is shitposting but at the sponsor's expense. Google hasn't heard of it at least. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How do they work? I agree that most 6-letter stuff is crap, but occasionally there are some gems in amongst the garbage. Especially on Amazon.

I really appreciate how you laid the grossness of this system bare without being too hard on the individual creators who are using the system to get by. That's a level of nuance I don't think this topic usually gets. What a weird world.

CPM = cost per mille - not per mile. Mille is french for Thousand so it makes sense, apart from the fact that everyone uses this specific french term.

The air purifier pdf thing is really nicely made (except for translation). I wonder how long I have to search the dyson homepage to find the template for that one and the check if they have only painted over some of it or just reamde it from scratch. At least they have taken the whole color scheme over and all that "look at the highly sophisticated turbine we have" thing. (But that image is problably stock or dyson too).

Actually the one with the crappy webcam feels like it makes sense. At that markup (180$ vs 30$) they only need to sell 4-5pc to your audience and they are in the positive. And yes, there is an absolute raise in "upmarketing" these days. The ssame crappy products in way nicer shells to outrageous prices. I guess this also frees up marketing money.
