We consider a lot of stuff in this episode. How heavy is Appa's tail and how didn't it kill Momo in this ep? What's creepier than Michael Myers Pov -- SWAMP POV! Also what's up with weird Pig-lipped Appalacian-esqe Swamp fuckers and do we think that Southerners should be angry at their portrayal in this episode? Maybe just a little.
Also, Katara has gotten soooooo good and water bending now!
Listen yall, just wanna preface we riff a lot in this episode cause there are a lot of ideas swirling around and THAT IS OUR BRAND. We talk during the show, we have subtitles on, so we catch most of everything, soooooo PUUUUUUUHLEASE bare that in mind when watching these and save yourself the trouble of commenting that we talk during these watches. We know.
We don't miss very much, and we will eventually pick it up if we do. This is just who we are. That said, we adore yall and are so grateful for you guys chipping in for the channel!

Unfortunately, the original creators have quit the Netflix live action remake. There was a big to do a few weeks ago when each of them published an announcement about this. Basically, they said they weren’t getting the kind of creative control they had been promised when they signed on. This is so sad, since much of the excitement about the new series was due to their involvement. I’m sure I will be checking it out whenever it actually happens. But a bit of my excitement about it has certainly diminished.

As a kid, I thought the writers were making fun of Americans in general lol. But I think they are based on the Vietnamese diaspora in Louisiana. Although some elements exist for comedy I think they did show that these people are badass waterbenders who are spiritual and nature-loving. I think it mostly emphasizes cultural differences in the water tribes. I agree with them that I'd rather live in a swamp than the poles as a waterbender.
