We being 80s/90s babies grew up on Batman: The Animated Series and so when we heard that Bruce Timm was taking another crack at the Dark Knight we had to check it out!
We’re loving the much more antiquated 40s pot-boiler language!
Kinda weirded how by Bruce’s coldness to Alfred is super bewildering but we’ll see where this goes.
And these new looks on Penguin and Clayface are super fun and the exact reason for a show like this!

two things: yes there is actually a female clayface in the comics. not related to the male clayface at all as far as i know. her name? lady clayface! secondly: this is my take on things. basil has a distorted sense of reality and was re-enacting their last movie playing all the parts except the lead lady's so that is why their is a camera in the bedroom: he is ACTING. the all the world is literally a stage to him.

controversial opinion: penguin would have worked so much better for me if she was a drag queen. rather folks thought she was a cis gender woman or not i'd take it. i mean it was right there. very vampy, campy, a mix of masc and femme. and her body guard could truly be her BODY guard.

So glad you guys are rolling with this - Great to see something that captures the essence of the original animated series, but with more representative characters for a modern palette. Seeing so many larger characters in a series like this as a kid would've made little Sam feel seen and they get kudos for that.

And also, even if you don't..... it's like a single 22 min ep and she's basically out of the story at least where we are up through ep 6! and also, it's like... there's so much classic Penguin shit out there, just consume that.

Yes, there are a bunch of bros complaining about Penguin being a woman. It's insane. If you follow any comic book type Instagram etc. they were just bombing the comments with how much they hate it. I honestly think it was a great idea and it translates well with the character. She's a more confident version of the Penguin.
