so i had fun with maxxxine, but i think pearl is still my favorite out of the trilogy. i’ve seen a lot of people call it the weakest out of the 3 but def think that was maxxxine. the only scene where they started cooking was the movie store scene and then they just never went to that. still a fun movie but weird pacing and story

The thing about Smithfield's is that, if you're in any town in Eastern NC with a Smithfield's? You've *definitely* got a better local spot nearby. It's often a convenient option, but it's rarely going to be your first choice. And James may take my side bread away for saying this, but I grew up with Lexington-style (pulled, shoulder-only, sweet sauce) barbecue and I think I'd give it the edge over Eastern-style...not down with the red slaw, though.

I just wanted to give a little update on Severn as NWA World Champ. In that 4 year period as champ, he did defend the title a lot. Such people as Tajiri, Steven Regal, Jim Neidhart, Tarzan Goto, Tommy Cairo, Al Snow, and many others. It's a fascinating group of defense but they were sometimes months in between. It would be a fun list for the boys to read on the pod.

In regard to Maxxxine, I understand where you’re coming from, but I kinda fit with the vision of the trilogy as a whole. Each focused on what it meant to be a star in the given eras. The original focused on the sexual exploitation of the 70s, Pearl was focused on being on stage, and Maxxxine focused on the 80s VHS boom. At the same time, this was also a HUGE time for the Giallo flicks, and this blatantly followed a lot of those tropes (black-gloved killer, stabbings, a murder mystery, etc.).
