One thing that I kinda noticed they don’t notice, but felt like it was screaming at me the whole time: the real versions of this story (JYD, Jake, Scott Hall, Iron Sheik) are even sadder because of the addiction angle. Like the conflict of the movie is “I’m a wrestler and I’m addicted to the life” instead of “I’m a wrestler and I’m addicted to speedballs”

Not to get too deep into analyzing the movie, but when James talked about Rourke and Tomei potential relationship at the hour 19 minute it he's missing the point about the parallel the 2 have - they're both performers, but one's life is performing and the other performs to live a life. Rourke's performances ruin his life, and Tomei's performances help her live a better life.

In all seriousness, watching the boyz, in a relatively serious role was weird at first, but very refreshing. Don't get me wrong I love watching the boyz lose their mind over dumb spots but the character progression (after YEARS AND YEARS) of watching James feed off of the erratic dumb (lovable) bullshit of Jawnny for the last half or so of the movie was refreshing to see. Also, idk how yall did the big cc's this time but I watched this one much longer than most listening and watching the stream and then rewinding to see what they were laughing so hard about that they had started on the tangent 3 mins earlier. Good stream boyz. Keep it up

Didn’t know much about this movie at all growing up, despite being into wrestling my whole life (I was 11 when it came out). Turns out, I grew up around all the little landmarks in this movie. I literally live like 3 mins away from Rahway. Shit, my little sister is a nurse at the hospital Randy got discharged from. This is really fucking cool, there’s never been a movie of any sort filmed out here, to my knowledge.

Two cool things about this movie. One the ACME they shot at is located not far from my house. Even one time during lunch break in school I went to a wendy's near by when they were filming. It was cool to see the set up. Two, I've been to the strip club Marisa Tomei's character works at.
