I once got spat half a bottle water on my face... during class by a laughting group of girls :3 fun times. (My stare was so full of cold anger that even without moving a muscle they slowly stoped laughing and apologised xD;;; That was the only time I felt so powerful... But also, it hurted)

Just like there (often) are civics classes in school, there should be empathy classes. Kids should not only learn to be functional workers and citizens, but also functional human beings.
