the trout story was his 10th birthday. sawyer’s mill was a place john and his dad went multiple times but they don’t specify where it is, and it doesn’t appear to be a real place. john also didn’t specify it was the first time astronauts landed on the moon when he was in maine with his dad. he was born in 1969+/-1 year. last moon landing was 1972. so it still more or less adds up.

The show runners have said that space shows going back to earth is basically jumping the shark and means they have run out of ideas and it's the end of the show, it's sadly ironic that these two episodes are some of the best of the show but also season 4 was the end
