That sounds amazing! I love shortbread ever since I was a kid. It wasn't one of my moms favorites so I didn't have short bread much until I was older and got it for myself. But what we did have, especially during the holidays, was European butter cookies which satisfied a lot of my short bread cravings. But to have had homemade Irish or Scottish short bread & treats would have been quite the treat! You have my mouth watering with envy 😋

As we dig deeper... Short bread cookies such as Lorna Doones were a staple in the house or my Mom baked homemade from scratch. After WW2, she and a friend opened up a bakery. They msde local goodies as well as drawing from Scottish and Irish recipes she grew up with as a kid.

I completely agree! I never was, even as a kid, much for frosting and my mom always made these amazing sugar cookies for the holidays that literally just melted in you mouth. I honestly didn't care much for any other kind. But my grandmother had this really old fashioned type of sugar cookie she'd make that wasn't really sweet, more like a short bread type sweetness, that if I'm going to have an "iced" sugar cookie it's hers.

As a kid, I liked the frosted but then I matured. The delicate pastry is by far my first choice. One of those is worth any number of the frosted kind.

I do believe Christmas has arrived early. Evidently I wasn't naughty enough because Santa has seen fit to stuff my stocking anyway, with the sweetest give one could hope for. I'm going to need a glass of milk to go with perfect cookie.
