How do you pronounce it btw, "sir-up" or "seer-up"? ๐

1) you said the f-word! Now I'm laughing... (And no, I'm not criticising you. It's funny to me because not only is it out of character for you, but it was also an innocent slip-up that actually endears you to us more. Not that you weren't already, of course.) 2) I say it "sirrup", where the U is a "soft vowel", and the Y plays the part of a "soft vowel" I. Instead of merely saying it, I have given an explanation for each vowel sound, because elaboration fights against confusion. (I can't figure out how to make that rhyme.) Hopefully this helps you moving forward.

hey, you got it in the end. For me it depends on how much effort I want to put into saying it. sometimes I say "sir - up" other times I say "seer - up"

Syrup is pronounced syrup and not syrup. You are welcome. Sir-up. That's the way I've grown up pronouncing it.
