We take it back to 1995 on this edition of WATCH THIS, to the first ever (?) LIFEGUARD match between the Macho Man & The Nature Boy. It's a packed house at this beach, and you could argue that there's 10 thousand or 100 thousand people there (depending on if you work for WCW or not!). It's a lumberjack match with lifeguards and of course WCW's top guys like DICK SLATER and BUNKHOUSE BUCK.

(Feel free to not read) Had an existential moment in this one; when Alvarez held up the YWF belt I remembered loving observer live for years and the Bryan and Vinny show was fucking amazing and all the great stories and at some point I stopped watching and supporting them and signed up for this Patreon and now everything’s deadlock and DPW for me, idk if Alvarez became the gimmick at some point or what but it’s like all the joy was gone. I’m so fuckin glad deadlock came along and brought the fun back to this space!!

In the WCW crossover episode with Baywatch, one of the plots is Hulk Hogan trying to save the youth center from Ric Flair shutting it down, and the other is a woman discovering she has cancer. It’s incredible television.

I love how this watch this has two parts...part 1 being "back in the day when the day was longer" and part 2 being the YWF invasion 🤣 And piling on to what was already posted in the comments and had completely forgotten about until after reading them 😅 the YWF was in fact the old Backyard fed that Bryan Alvarez use to be a part of and it does mark the first time that both Alvarez and Meltzer where at the same wrestling event, however I believe they both mentioned on Twitter having not crossed paths during it.
