Could you not "fill" the hole with solder and very quickly slip the cap lead through. basically filling the hole with solder?

Steve Sharp

Why are you fixing the plated hole? Doesn’t the cap lead soldered to foil side work?

Steven Sadler

I use wire wrapping wire for the missing traces as I still have some from the 1970’s

Great video! Tip: Those foam handles on pliers and other tools clean up and look like new with a bit of naphtha (Ronsonol lighter fluid). I thought that this might be helpful.

Excellent video. Regarding the auto-focusing issues - have you considered just putting it on manual focus? You can get a decent depth of field if you close down the f-stop more (ie go towards a higher number - around f-stop 5.6 or 8+ is decent) or go with a wider lens. You can either flood the work area with a bunch of light, or raise your ISO, so that you can stop it down and get a larger depth of field. A macro lens might also work wonders for you, though I can't say for certain.

To think I was about to remove every tube to isolate the testing of resistors while doing my restoration. It never occurred to me that unless something inside each tube is connected that’s internally shown within the tube’s schematic or it is shorted, All pins are of high impedance. No need to remove tubes for just ohmic resistance tests. Wow.! Thank you Mr. Carlson.
