Build This Tester - Crystal Tester Release With All Files!
🕑 Added 2025-10-03 06:52:49 +0000 UTCSuper useful tester for any bench! Build this tester to test all sorts of crystals, fundamental and overtone types alike. The best part... Build it with "junk box parts!" Use what you have, it's a very friendly circuit to build and work with. PCB layout and Component Map below as attachments, see video for more details. Enjoy!

The crystal tester is a useful tool and was fun to build. It stimulated me to learn more about the HC-25/u crystals that are used in my Realistic Pro-4 scanner and a TRC-25A CB walkie talkie. I built it from my limited junk box, with SMD transistors. I found one MMBT3904 transistor that survived in a blown switch-mode wall wart. I extended the transistor pads a couple mm with a Sharpie. I am using a 100pF ceramic cap for now, in place of the variable cap. Thanks!

I like to ask a question:where can I get a decent signal injector and oscilloscope to align my radios ?

Not related to this post but I’m having trouble fixing a DC drive for a X axis milling machine and trying to contact Mr. C. but the links for PM do not work. I am on the $20 membership so I should have full access. Any help is appreciated.
