If I was to create a secondary platform, would you prefer I use Discord or Telegram?
🕑 Added 2025-01-13 00:03:45 +0000 UTCHey all! I'm currently down with something like a mild flu right now so I've yet to really return to work, butttttt. Something that's been weighing on me for a while is that I have no secondary platform - or put another way, all of my eggs are in the Patreon basket atm. I do have a Bluesky, I do have a Tumblr, but I'm sure there are a lot of people here who don't connect with me on either; and I'd like to figure out a solution to that this year, sometime in the next few months. Moreso, truly, as a "backup" option but maybe something that could blossom in its own right with time.
First things first is to come up with a communication option - whether it'd be a community based thing or not, I'm unsure. From what I see in hypno spaces broadly, these kind of channels are really only divided between Discord and Telegram: and as a disclaimer, any Discord I'd make probably wouldn't be open to public chat immediately. I'd need to sort mods and everything first, which is quite an endeavour, but it'd work for general mass-contact and announcements beforehand. (If you know him, a little like how Hyphyphurray uses his.) Just not sure which of these platforms my audience uses more, so lemme know in the poll below! I'll take action on it going into spring.

Agreed, but Discord is quite embedded in the public consciousness so it may be where people like to keep their "interest groups" so to speak. I'm def open to either, though I'd need to create a private Jockout account too that IRL people couldn't find me through.

I don't have a strong feeling either way. I'm not a big user of either platform. But I support your notion of an alternative platform. I was a patron of another Creator who had his account suspended and all of his content removed.
