In “Inferno”, Dante and Vergil make it to the bottom of Hell, and find Lucifer there, a giant, three-faced, six-winged monster. He is constantly weeping, and his tears make a lake that surrounds him, but he keeps beating his wings in a futile attempt to escape. The wind this produces freezes the lake, and that is what has him trapped in the first place. But he never stops to think about it. He can’t. Never confuse Satan with Mephistopheles. The latter specializes in tempting artists, philosophers, and the like, and therefore can at least seem clever. Satan, however, is so stuffed with Evil that he has no room left for brains.

Actually, his name is Stan and the whole evil demon thing is just blown out of proportion. He's just God's drinking buddy who does some really obnoxious crap when he's had a few (see Job).
