Just King Things Bonusode - The Langoliers (1995)
🕑 Added 2022-12-13 03:05:59 +0000 UTCNick Wiger joins us to talk about the miniseries from the 90s that everyone sort of remembers: The Langoliers! It's sort of a locked-room story, sort of a Twilight Zone episode, and every part of it feels stranger than the last. Listen to us talk about this tv experience where there is a plot-critical toaster in a blanket.

Very informative, thanks!

Regarding the Salem's Lot talk at the end: the Royal River (and indeed all the local geography aside from the Lot itself) are entirely real and roughly correspond to Yarmouth, ME--I first read the book over the summer while catching up on back episodes and it was super disconcerting to find a vampire story effectively set in the town where I went to high school.

Oh wow, I'm a fan of Wiger from Doughboys and Get Played, I had no idea there was a connection there... maybe I do recall him mentioning Just King Things on a podcast at some point. A very pleasant surprise!

I remember watching this at the age of 7 and was my first horror movie. Most kids got scarred by gore, I was haunted by the concept of the Past, Time Beholders, and a dude with heavy items in pillow cases.
