Modified LitR - Removing A Forest / Generating LOD
🕑 Added 2024-12-21 21:10:20 +0000 UTCThe primary thing you need to do if you're removing A Forest from the list is to regenerate LOD. If you're already familiar with LOD generation for Skyrim, the process is similar, however this is a detailed process, with a lot of steps to follow, that can be a bit finicky.
If you're removing A Forest, you may also want to disable the "LitR Green Landscape Textures" and the "Lush But Not Green" DC and Goodneighbor mods.
To generate LOD, just follow DoubleYouC's Article on the Far Object LOD Improvement Project nexus page. The following are notes on how to install the tools, and any changes I had to make when I generated LOD for the main lists.
Disable the "LitR - LOD" mod (this has the regenerated LOD for the list, and should be disabled before generating new LOD)
Download and install the FO4LodGen Resources, and place the plugin above Optimized Vanilla Tree LODs.esp and Far Harbor 3d Tree LODs.esp (which are already included in the list).
If you didn't remove A Forest, then the plugin also needs to be above A Forest ( the files included in A Forest need to override the FO4LodGen resources)
The list does not contain lodfix_beantown_container.esp, or any of the other mods that the article recommends removing.
Fo4Edit64 is included in the list. As of V7.0.3 it is already setup as an executable in MO2, and just needs to be unhidden for use (gears icon in MO2, select FO4Edit 64, untick "Hide in User Interface"). Double check that Simple Records is disabled.
Install the FOLIP Fo4Edit scripts, and run them as the article says.
Follow the articles instructions to download, install, and run TexGen. I recommend installing these outside your LitR installation folder (so they don't get deleted when you update).
Because the modlist uses a stock game folder, when adding the executable to MO2, you need to set the start in and arguments to include the path to the data folder inside the LitR Stock Game Folder. This is what mine looks like.

I recommend using XLodGen64, I was never able to get the default 32bit version to work correctly with LitR.

TEST IT IN GAME - this is a very important step, I have found this to be a generally finicky process, so make sure it works. My favorite test spot is the overpass above gray garden - coc graygardenext, then tcl and just fly up.
I recommend packing the textures into an archive, it will result in reduced file size, and a slight performance improvement.

The synthesis patch is just a minor compatibility patch for a variety of containers, it can be safely disabled.

So I followed this guide but I'm getting a notification in MO2 stating the following: The masters for some plugins (esp/esl/esm) are not enabled. The game will crash unless you install and enable the following plugins: Master A Forest.esp Required By Synthesis.esp What else do I need to do? I understand how to remove the master from an ESP, however it is not very straight forward for Synthesis.esp. Any suggestion on how to move forward? Not sure if i missed something, but the guide seems incomplete in this case unless I did! Thanks :)
