Is this a venturi style? If so that's what you call the throttle! If you're using the lower chamber for overall CFM/SCFM or T/Id/O you might want to lose the flex hose for rigid unless all the differentials are all measured in the upper and the lower is not a final delta point.

Interesting that you can test push vs pull. To me this would be interesting to know if there IS a difference as when setting up servers or even radiators there are differences on how you can configure them and would be really interested to know if one is better than the other. For example in a jbod drive array you can get units set up with fans in the back (pull air through the drives) or in the front (push air through the drives). Likewise with radiators you can do pull or push or both. I've set up systems in numerous ways depending on basically what was easier to run cables but have never really seen any good real-world information as to what differences there are.

Thanks Steve! Just a suggestion on reconfiguring the tester from push to pull testing; I think it might be useful to have the data for those considering whether to run push or pull fans through the radiator in water cooling loops. Different fans may have different performance metrics depending on the configuration and, while it's generally accepted that it doesn't make a significant difference, it would be nice to actually have data backing that assumption.

I'd love a technical discussion on how the fan tester works. What the measurement points are, equations used, and how the tester actually does them. I briefly saw the chart and saw Reynold's number on there. Maybe if I rewatch that section it's clear? But, my engineer wants to know.
