Some Incoming Website Overhauls

I just wanted to update you all on some of the stuff we're working on outside of the main YT channel!
First up, we've been continuing to bring content to the website since we re-launched it in November of last year. I think we just got around to getting all the Zen 5 reviews published in written format. If you're not familiar with how we're handling that, the short version is that we have someone on staff (Jimmy Thang, former Maximum PC writer and formerly worked under my good friend Gordon Mah Ung) converting all the video scripts into articles. The conversion mostly includes keeping everything exactly as is, but cleaning it up for written publication. Some things don't cleanly translate from spoken to written. He also does a lot of work staging the charts, the images, and presenting it cleanly and with bookmarked/anchored links everywhere.
Anyway, he just got done going through all the Zen 5 content. As we've been doing, they are exact replicas/unupdated/unchanged adaptations of the videos. If you've seen the videos, there's nothing new there. It's mostly for long-term reference.
The reason I bring this up though is that we are now also working toward running another "Mega Charts" page, similar to the ones we have for CPU coolers and CPU power consumption. This will contain all the most recent benchmarks we have for CPUs. It will be on the prior version of Windows 11 (before the latest update). We'll work on re-running everything with the newest version as soon as we switch back to CPUs, which will likely be for Intel's Arrow Lake or AMD's X3D CPUs. We don't have dates on either yet, but I'd expect this year.
In the meantime, I want to at least just get one massive charts page live with everything on it, as we have something like 50 CPUs tested. Videos just don't give enough vertical space to fit them all, but the site does.
Outside the website, I've also been trying to figure out what to do with some of our interviews. We have a lot of interviews/discussions that are good, but with how YT behaves, they wouldn't perform well (and may even hurt) the main channel these days, or they've lost their timeliness due to other delays. I was thinking of starting up GN Extras again to just run them all over there. They're great discussions. It's just a challenge of how much we want to 'fight' YouTube for views and channel performance. Normally, I just post whatever I want and let it work itself out. That works pretty well. In this instance though, I think we have enough stashed interviews to basically create a mini series on a secondary channel. It's all industry people, so the topics/subjects span from case design (and case designers) to CPU design and architects.
Open to your thoughts on those. Maybe it makes sense for us to start a small seasonal series or something with just extra interviews.
Also, I'm happy to be done with the EK story now. It was huge and a new format, but we're moving back into reviews. Up next, we have the DAN Case A3-mATX wood panel case review, the Antec Flux Pro (which is actually the new 'best' on our charts for thermals, so that's exciting), and the Tryx LUCA, which was shown at Computex. We also have a review of the Corsair i500 pre-built coming up.

Any chance you'll do a factory tour one (or more) links beyond chips? At one time, there was a serious wafer producer not too far from you in Spartanburg, SC. They still have a plant doing 300mm that has a lot of history to it just outside St. Louis. Although.......you might enjoy a trip to northern Italy to see their plants there. O:-) GlobalWafers / MEMC

Maintaining a website is a lot of work. The heyday of awesome tech websites seems to be over which is disappointing. Most magazines have disappeared. The fact that you post your charts to the website is super valuable and appreciated by me.

I really like the charts showing the equivalent current gen and upgrade path at same "cost". Especially as someone who waits 2 or three generations to build or upgrade.

Until GN has one, you can check out Tom's Hardware's mega GPU charts. I don't know how accurate the raw numbers are, but assuming they use the same methodically, it should show relative performance differences. Last i checked, it still had RTX 2000 series in there.

Looking forward to a good Antec case again. I've owned a few, but my last was a P183 v3 from over a decade ago. Hopefully it's a good performer, while still being relatively quiet.

I went looking for a GPU mega chart the other day to see if buying a 7900 XTX to replace a 2080 Ti was at all worth it. Now I just wish such a chart existed.

I‘d post them on GN Extras. One every week. And then mention them in HW News at the end or beginning. That way, you won’t hurt the main channel, give GNE a little boost and don’t have to exclude non-Patreon folks. Everybody wins.

If you post to GN Extra, I'd schedule the videos out as one every other day or however you've found best for the main channel. I know that if you dump all of them at once or in quick succession on any platform, few are going to watch all of them just as of people struggle during CES.

The GN Extras already exists btw. It lapsed in use due to the focus upon the main channel being fairly prioritised.

One thing I've seen some other channels do for extra content is just post them on Pateron, which I guess you could do even open for everyone, but I can also see a variety of arguments against that. Would absolutely love to see that content though!

Thank you for the update Steve. A GN Extras for interviews and a catch-all is spiffy. If it helps the channel overall then certainly. As long as everything is archived and available I honestly do not care how you prefer to segregate it. Thank you for asking but your experience and judgement are something I do not question.

I think throwing it all up on the second channel would be a good idea. People can watch if they're interested, you get to share with people, and it doesn't hurt your algorithm

I love the "massive charts" thing but i just wish there was some way to get the data in Datawrapper or even like, a shared Google sheet (as a subscriber exclusive or something). Being able to sort helps with the kinds of comparisons most of us actually make, which is like "if I upgrade to X, how much of a performance boost do I get? Versus, if I splurge and get Y instead?"

GN Extras has always been for the super fans - it would be worthwhile to dump those videos that may be either no longer timely or otherwise rough around the edges on that channel.
