I didn't even know non sponsors can nominate.. that's terrible :/ you're probably right about sponsors being displaced by non-sponsors

Perhaps sponsors nominate and non-sponsors can vote. This acknowledges the sponsors and encourages non-sponsors to subscribe.

My point is that there are few sponsors and many non-sponsors. There’s no incentive for sponsors in this arrangement.

But, you don't have to be a sponsor to nominate a character or vote. It's very likely sponsors, regardless of tier, are being displaced by non-sponsors.
