I was more than a bit nervous about that one Tom!! I faffed about for days looking at it, checking, rechecking, walk away, have a cup of tea, come back check again... There was going to be no going back after that cut and I really didn't want to mess it up!!

I know you've probably been asked this like 200,000,000 times but What program are you using to plot all of this out? Do you design the part in CG first or the other way around? This was a great video though, and I'm really enjoying the longer videos.

Hey Nelson, to some extent lacquer can be used to slow oxidation, but it wont halt it entirely. The only real protection is to electroplate the surfaces with a non reactive metal like gold. In reality though, 99% of the worlds clocks are left to develop a natural patina. I will polish and lacquer the frames, legs, pillars and a few other bits, but much like getting old, its better to simply accept the natural oxidation process, and enjoy the extra character it brings over time :)

Chris, I can not help but see some of the tarnished finish on the brass. Is there something that you will do to seal the finish under? You have worked so hard to make it look so good and see it just makes me wonder. Looking good as usual.

Once again a superb video. I only wish we were having one a week instead of having to wait. At first I was put off by the feet but came to see that they add a very nice touch to the whole clock. BTW, have you ever done anything on setting up your lathe and mill before using? As a prospective metal worker it would be great to see what some of the things a beginner should do to avoid problems.

Your use of napkins, paper and tape to protect the finish is very awesome and hilarious to me at the same time.
