Just in case you wondered...
🕑 Added 2024-09-10 20:48:03 +0000 UTCHere's the show I was working on. The link may take you to the start of Highland Rave with the DJ faking it on the decks. Some of the instruments are being genuinely played, and some are for visual effect. The other instrumental components may be coming from our hidden live band in the moat of the castle.
If you look at the Indian section of the show you can see the illuminated costume items.

It was a brazen upload of the BBC edit by a random person, so I'm not surprised it was taken down.

Why i cant see the video?

I bet Vladimir is quaking in his boots watching this π€£ Eurovision meets boot polish and brass polish π€£ Cool sets and lighting though, must be fun to work on.

Thanks.

The Titan Tubes have a mini tripod at the base. Before the show we have them clipped onto the arena along the sides until the audience is in, and then we move them so they are freestanding. They are used as part of the stage lighting during the show up to the Highland rave section when they are used and then brought in by the dancers. We only had a few fall over on an extremely windy night. The dancers promptly stood them up again without missing a beat. These tubes were bought for our own stock on the show and we have been discussing adding a bumper to the top to protect them if they get blown over.

Thanks. Stagecraft question: Those lighted sticks that the dancer had. They stood them up while they danced around them. What keeps them upright? Are they simply weighted down low? Did they ever/often fall over?

Thanks Clive for posting this. I always wanted to know what was the Tattoo was about and even seeing that my Home State is represented in the show was great.

Nice one. But I have to say I would be a bit disappointed if I turned up with my whistle and that was the rave. π€£
Big Clive
Different company doing the pyro this year. I've got mixed thoughts about that.
CrazyOregonBeaver
Did they let you play with the fireworks. ππ€£π€£

wow! thank you for sharing, the entire performance was incredible. I really enjoyed Edinburgh castle when I visited almost 10 years ago and was wondering what all the space in the front was for!
Big Clive
The show has definitely gone in the direction of an X-factor look these days.

Wind is always a major issue for flame projecting devices.
Chris Elzinga
Awesome. Looks like the wind was challenging for some of the piro effects though!
Dave Frederick AKA @amorphuc
Wow. Thanks Big Clive.

Lots of flaming bagpipe videos on YT. The dancing girls costume change was simple but impressive aided by the lighting. There was a bit of overuse of the breakup gobos though.

WOOO HOO I am a South Carolina Native.

It's not something I was even aware of until afterwards. I had cues up the other end of the arena at that point in the show.
Big Clive
Just be glad we didn't have the usual fireworks. It's usually Hogmanay every night.
richard ockman
Thanks For the link Clive, Flaming Bagpipes , is that something you have seen close up, simple or complex effect.
Larry Cadloff
Ah, so you were one of the people keeping me awake in my hotel at the base of the castleβ¦
Mike Page
Some musical elements clearly lifted from 2 Unlimited - No Limit (1993). Haha. Post-rave really.
Edward Brady
it's great to see the show

I think you need to update the whoofler to a flaming bagpipe
