Please release the video. It was made respectfully and truthfully. I'm in Australia which has a high level of Muslim immigration, and I've never seen one of these before.

By the way, if you want some of the stuffs from Israel, feel free to poke me, I'll be glad to send you some diverse package, there's all sorts of unusual Muslim and Jewish electronic stuff, from clocks showing Muslim prayer times and little electric counting thingies used for prayers, to Jewish lamps which turn off by closing the shutter as opposed to turning it off electrically, neat stuff for smaller markets!

In Israel there are some chocolate hannukiah candles (made by Kinder) for Hannukah, but not like a calendar, just candle-shaped candies. Usually when the market is smaller the produce is not as "fancy", similar to how in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, some other countries one can find 31-day calendars counting down to the New Year's Eve (the main winter holiday in ex-USSR) which is cool as it's more than what western kids are getting, but unlike western "advent calendars" it's always just chocolates.

Nothing offensive in that, and if the inevitable someone does get busted up over it, they will be the sort who actively seek out things to be offended by, so should be ignored.

@adrian That much is obvious, but with the German tradition of fasting before "Karneval", for example, you are allowed to eat all day, but try to generally avoid alcohol / fatty food / sweets (or whatever else you want to fast on) for the whole period and eat healthy instead. I knew they were allowed to eat after sunset, but I was not sure if everything was allowed then or if there were still restrictions.

Would be tough to fast for a whole month 24 hours. People might die. Fasting all day 30 times seems like a good compromise and also has 30 feasts !

'Given the choice, I'd prefer the Christmas one'. Choose your religion based on the quality of the chocolate :) . I wonder what an FSM advent calendar is like ? Was the other box the same ? Not sure whether to praise or rebuke the lack of excess wrappings. Maybe Christmas ones don't have silver paper any more either.

Go ahead Clive, it's a good video and definitely not disrespectful. I reverted to Islam 15 years ago due to some rather destructive lifestyle choices. When the sun goes down, it's party time 😋. There's no particular reason they only used 3 patterns except for laziness.....or efficency i suppose it's called. It's actually a nice gesture showcasing this so I say post it 👍🏻

I think that's kind of interesting. Thanks Big Clive. I love your curiosity. I'm going to guess there are variations on this like with the Xmass ones from Cadbury or others. I'd have to say the chocolates don't look that great but like you say, are appealing from the standpoint of a treat (and perhaps a story behind each one's symbol)

as i understand it the fasting is only during the daytime, and food can be had between sundown and sunrise. still seems odd to me as well, but yeah.

Interesting... but is this counting down to the start of Ramadan or is it counting down to Eid al-Fitr (or the sugarfeast, as they call it in Germany), which marks the end of Ramadan? Seems counter-intuitive to have a piece of chocolate everyday during a month of fasting, although I am not familiar with the exact rules and what they are and aren't allowed to eat .
