Four laser aura/diffraction unit
🕑 Added 2025-06-26 18:52:53 +0000 UTCThis thing has some of the most complex power supply circuitry I've seen in a laser unit. Four different voltage rails to regulate the current through the laser diodes.
It has a double layer wheel providing classic diffraction effects, but also the laser aura effect where the laser beams are passed through a distortion disk that spreads the beams in a complex morphing pattern.

The rotating effect is purely the disk moving around the effects. It's a surprisingly complex visual effect.

Good video (as always). One thing I'm not catching is how the pattern effects were done (the squares turning etc). Is that all edged into that 'refraction disk"?
