"Perpetual motion" ornaments

The cylon scanning light is something that has probably been implemented by someone with an arduino and addressable tape. I switched to using USB power banks for my prop lighting. That also allows items to be plugged in continuously with a wall charger.

I'm currently building a Starship Galactica Cylon helmet for a college. For that I'm testing out some sliding light effect (If you known what a Cylon is, you know what I mean) Already while testing I'm sick and tired of the moving lights. So like the devices you show - they very quickly loose their appeal and will just end up with empty (leaking) batteries, collecting dust 😀 Love the simplicity of the circuit. I could have used that when I build my pendulum clock, although my pendulum uses the charging coil from an old electric toothbrush, so way fewer windings and resistance.

I did have a Kevin Minion that was solar powered but it wasn't of good quality and soon broke. I couldn't fix it unfortunately.
