High voltage experiment from the past
🕑 Added 2025-08-13 14:31:59 +0000 UTCThis is a bit of circuitry that I cobbled together a very long time ago. It's always useful to take a look at old designs to try and work out what I was thinking at the time, and also to see if improvements could be made.

The slow sawtooth waveform is to make the light seem to extend along the tube by varying the point the high voltage generator triggers.

I don’t see the point of the tyristor circuit on the right side shorting the capacitor. It generates a relatively slow sawtooth waveform. But way?

Show this to Chris Boden! He loves high voltage, crappy build work, and expensive sounds!
