Revealing it to her was really the only reason Ruffles' Nanna let him start spinning this tale at all which, for all she knows, could be some sinister spiderpaw fabrication designed to trick her.
Anyway, the two-toes are super happy. They've never met Shaensigin - only heard their parents and grandparents speak of her fondly and pray for her return. This mournful cry here is proof she really does exist; that she really wasn't killed. Of course they don't know why Cresce has allowed them to come here today or what Shaensigin is planning, but hopefully it includes rescuing thousands of displaced two-toes and taking them away from the monstrous spiderpaws.
Roger's happy too. And waaaaay not nervous enough about what he's walking into. When at the side of one's true love at last, everything can seem suddenly, deceptively easy.

poor little booger! my latest rescue kitten does the same thing-- when we got him, such a terrified starving ball of sharp teeth and claws, he'd pass out when stuck someplace he couldn't fight his way out. He's happy now though! And growing on diet of sardines, bottle milk, and healthy kitten kibble.

Will is so small and afraid. He really has no idea what to do. If he calls attention to himself maybe the giant will kill him D: So he's utilizing the opossum strat.

Is Will just conked out for his nap? It sure looks like Mallory intends to tote him around a small piece of luggage, until he finds a nice safe place to put the kid down and leave him, out of harm's way! If Will's dad really did send him into the army to be killed in order to punish Will's mother, maybe he'd be better off abjuring Jet Dad and volunteering to be the son and heir Roger and Mallory won't be spawning?! At least, not biologically, unless you have a willing surrogate mother and some faaaaannnnncy pymary to trick two XY gametes into making a new baby......

Sadly I doubt we'll see Claggart punch "Mallory" in the dick. But I am getting that feeling. That feeling that some of Duane's loathing of Cresce is going to be explained by what happens in the next few pages.
