Is Duane's audience ultimately going to appreciate his tale? I've got to believe Granny would be on the salt lizard's side in this conflict...
Historically, lots and lots of gods have been fed babies and children: sacrifices, crusades, etc. It's practically a religious cliche at this point.

I was going to ask if that's an expression of guilt or remorse on the salt lizard's face, but it's pretty much had that guilty, skulking, up-to-no-good facial expression and body language the whole time we've known it. For shame, Shaensigin! What sort of a God eats babies? That's right, a poor one. ;)
