Honestly, you'd have a hard time even getting Duane to understand this concept. He'd be like, "Of COURSE Jon had feelings for me, and I had feelings for him! We were all but best friends for two years!" Just a different world, man :)

I'm not sure Duane would react very significantly to the revelation that Jon had feelings for him. They were already good friends and comrades; adding one-sided romantic feelings to that relationship wouldn't change it very much for Duane. It would be a bit of a mess in his mind, really. Homosexuality is seen as a moral failing in Alderode. Duane lionizes his memory of Jon, so trying to reconcile that with a realisation that Jon had romantic feelings for a man would kind of result in a shrug. It would be like learning Jon was regularly stealing Duane's dinner rations or something: not admirable, but not a big deal, and besides the point.

Oh Duane baby, she's right you don't wanna know how our dearest Jon felt about you. Even though you're open-minded for an Ald, I don't feel you are in the right mindset to cope with such a revelation at the moment. And I'm not even touching on your baby brother, not in the least because all we readers can do is infer and guess yet.
