We'll go into the khert next to see what Duane is doing. I'm nervous about the upcoming scene. It's purposefully very disjointed because Duane's thoughts are disjointed and angry, and I'm not sure how well it's going to read. It also has a few pages completely free of dialogue and those tend to irritate people, I've noticed. Fingers crossed :)

They're talking about Prakhuta/Cutter when they say "red pariah." Cutter was mutilated by two-toes and expelled from his family. Uncle Masek saw those scars and recognised what they meant. Cutter is a pariah. Other two-toes are SUPPOSED to take that as a warning then and stay away from him but these lizard kids at the shrine are not the brightest bulbs in the pack~

Ooo I love this!! Symbolism gives me life 8D Why do the Inaks refer to a "red pariah"?! I think they refer to Lady Ilganyag's staying in the Khert and that's what's represented on their flag! Maybe the lion represents the Khert here as Ssael "conquered" it? Maybe the Inak believe llganyag sacrificed themself for them? Are they even affected by the Khert? So far, there's been no hint to that!
Well we do have a mysterious main character with a lion tail... Ssael and Ilganyag's kid, maybe?
