At some point Lori & her staff are going to inquire where Quiglley and Duane ended up and might find the revealed-and-opened door. So if it took them an hour or few, they are on a more limited timer.

They used Theme Park Aspect to get it working again. But that would only work if one of the riders is in costume and talks a lot... oh wait...

If this was a video game, getting the ferry to work would be a mini quest. With gathering some sort of tools and pieces from exploring around. Or it would be a single button press. It's interesting that they've figured it out quickly.
