They've each had doubts for ages. Siya expressed some of them to Duane herself. Duane - and this attack on the shrine - just sharpened everything to a point.

Is Siya running out to leave the shrine to escape being a twin sacrifice, or because she won't just abandon Ruffles and her family with that "I'm sure they're fine" BS? She *just* saw Jivi leave safety to find others who are in danger, and recognized his action as the right thing to do. Her "sacrifice" is years in the future, not something she has to run into a war zone to escape.
