I think she does need to pick a path, but I fear the main takeaway will be not to voice her doubts. Not that Lem was the right person to talk to about this anyway, at least he got her out in time I guess. I think the implication is that the burned bodies were the result of a failed uprising, so those guys in the window have a lot of guts to try again. It would be nice if what the Black Tongues were doing helped them out. I worry that ordinary civilians will just get caught in the crossfire.

Wow, the mood on this page is incredible. Starting off with horrors in broad daylight, to Mikaila and Lem in the darkness, Mikaila travelling down a dark and lonely path, a path she didn't pick. I love the details of the smoke eels too, quite literally ghosts haunting his every breath. I wonder if this is also the last time Mikaila will see Uncle Lemon.... Alive that is.
