"Soul" is such a fuzzy word and I think it's going to confuse people. Basically, everything in the world has a khert soul. It's their personal section of the khert that defines their Aspects, their identity, enables them to function in the world.
What the Man wanted was the Gefendur religious idea of a soul, one that enables reincarnation and promises the return of all of ones memories one day. He wanted the gods, he wanted eternity, he wanted rewards, and his idea of hope.
That's what he had in mind when he and Sessine created this "First Soul." He didn't want the cold functionality of the khert; he wanted story, meaning, hope, and transcendence.
It's kinda uh, unexpected, that Sette Frummagem wound up the final current living embodiment of all of uh, that.
