Through their memories of other pain and sensation. We've seen this a lot with Duane. When Lady Ilganyag was bedding him, she specifically went to a memory of him masturbating and pulled that to the forefront. If you slashed one of these Sette ghosts, they'd flash to a memory in life of being in pain. Ghosts are only memories~
