Eeeee I'm so excited for this book! What a hard-hitting start! I'm so pleased that we're getting into plod science. I love Nora, she's so curious and so callous, casually talking about torturing what she believes to be a real person in her goofy bird sweater... Child death immediately of course, and I notice that Tree basically gave himself the "easy" job there and left Jaer to do the bloody part, which Jaer is clearly distressed and angry about having to do. I wonder what the fallout of that is gonna be.

Oh boy! Time to ramble excitedly: Sette my beloved! And Nora my beloved in a cute sweater! And 4 new people who I dunno but I like their designs! Really cool how you wove in Nora's exposition of the aldish castes to the job tree and + jaer were doing, and Duane's drawings of Durlyne to the real thing. And I love the composition of that one panel with the waterwomen all swimming and singing. Poor Nessy, but I guess it wouldn't be unsounded without a dead kid... I hope Tree gets everything that's coming to him <3 and best of luck springing Duane out, Sette!
