...or keep running away. And I'm not sure I'd be in a rush to run back home to mom after she said something like that to me either. I'd want nothing more than to never see her again and prove I don't need her at all.

(Part two.) The comparison to a heart might become poignant later on. Here it’s a joke, and a cutesy one at that which further emphasizes how little the two characters (Sette and Jivi) started off understanding eachother (Sette implies, jokingly or otherwise, that their physiology is inherently different based off of ethnicity/race). Jivi was explicitly studying his friends’ cultures a few short pages ago. With the conflict between the assassins and their victims (a Sharte trying to make an honest buck being murdered by people who make a point of accusing him of being shady by default), plus Duane’s torment being viewed as fine because his tormentor doesn’t view Alds as truly people (accepting that he would he otherwise; undeath isn’t a factor to her)— the contrasts and PERCEIVED contrasts are definitely going to be a focus here.

Hi, I’m back, Because no one else seems to have pointed it out yet, the glow of Jivi’s pipe has an interesting glow for a pyramic. Not quite red, definitely not yellow; almost a pinkish rose gold. If red relates to unpleasantness and yellow to joyous memories, with blue and green being the common colours for practical pyramy, then what should the hue of the pipe mean? My current take is more on the aesthetic, design side of things; it’s close enough to red to come across as threatening in the right context (see also Sette being lit by its hue while calling herself a god) while being cutesy enough to garnish lighter matters (it resembling a glowing heart under his shirt).

Oh geeze knife in my heart. My crazy horrible mom did stuff like this to us kids. Everybody out of my way I need to hug Jivi!

Maybe we're viewing him through a mirror.

Shouldn't Jivi's left ear still be bandaged on the 4th panel?

Huh! I’d thought those scratches seemed too new!

I think that's a sword, not a fishing rod. Jivi likes the action comics it seems.

Let's see, are those... magazines about fishing and the Peaceguard and a comic book about wrights? (Also, damn, poor Jivi.)

For a moment I had hoped that the "torn scrap" at the bottom of the main page might contain a bonus panel of Crescian comic, but it was not to be. Perhaps we might be blessed with such a thing in a Patreon sketch if you ever find yourself with idle time :D

Yep, it's gotta be Jivi. Regina's too savvy to put a tool like that potentially in some rando's hands.

Wonder if it’s linked specifically to Jivi. Iirc Cutter blew on it during Jivis big escape

Always enjoyed the style change when we get our little glimpses into Jivi's past. The way the memory of his mother contrasts so heavily with the memory of his trunk and all his effects being in the water. Both of which are flashbacks but one of which is being viewed through a very particular lens

Exactly. I actually cut a line on this page where he chastizes himself for ever stealing the pipe back from Cutter. But it's probably more effective implicit, since you pointed it out yourself :)

"I'd want nothing more than to never see her again" And yet, he keeps it. Funny how family has that hold on you, even if everything tells you you'd be better off without them. I have a feeling the pipe will be important sooner or later :)
